讲座题目：文化政策、国家形象及“软实力”话语陷阱

内容简介：‘Cultural policy’, ‘national image’ and ‘soft power’ have become popular concepts in political discourse among world’s great powers, frequently appearing in government documents, academic discussions, and the popular media. Taking British and American cultural policies as a reference, the lecture examines the ongoing discourses at home and abroad on China’s soft power in transition, exploring the strengths, weaknesses, and potential of China’s exerting soft power (shaping national image) in the West. It starts with an exploration of China’s embrace of the concept ‘soft power’ as a strategic compass for its efforts to enhance its comprehensive national strength. It then investigates the obstacles that China hitherto has encountered when building and implementing soft power in the West. It also encourages students to reconsider the ‘soft power discourse trap’. The lecture tries to offer a platform for students who are interested in those areas to circulate their ideas with their peers.

主讲人简介：陈琦，伦敦大学皇家霍洛维学院全额奖学金博士、英国维多利亚学会（BAVS）会员，现任上海外国语大学英语学院讲师、上外图书馆英美文学特聘学科馆员，上海市晨光学者、浦江学者，中国比较文学学会会员、中国社会科学院欧洲研究所英国研究分会会员、上海欧洲学会会员。研究领域主要为中英文学关系、中英文化关系、英国社会思潮、英国文化政策。在国内外专业期刊公开发表各类论文十余篇。现承担英语学院本科专业课《英国社会与文化》、《国学典籍翻译》、研究生专业课《文化研究》、《中英中美文学关系》等数门课程，撰写校内自编教材一部。
